Caroline Numina Panaka is one of six sisters and three brothers. She attended primary school at Stirling Station, a cattle station near Tenant Creek. She later attended high school at Kormilda College in Darwin.

Caroline started painting professionally in 2000 after being handed down Kurrujong Bush Medicine Dreaming by her aunties Gloria and Kathlyb Petyarre.
